Response to Climate Change an Issue
Every advance in Climate Change has an effect to the local environment and global atmosphere. To assume its some other person’s or government responsibility to fix the negative impacts is equivalent to destroying our planet. WESDEP chooses to participate to protect our environment through its programs.
Impact of Climate Change
Over the year’s climate changes has been as a result of human activities causing the increased release of greenhouse gases from fossil fuel consumption stations and misuse of land. The accelerated increase of the concentration of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are evident in the atmosphere. The cloud cover tends to reduce as well as the ozone gradually becomes thinner and altogether leading to more aggressive solar radiation. Forestry, trees and agroforestry and essential for adaptation to climate change in two major ways. First, trees and forests are already affected by climate change, but their resilience to the impacts is prerequisite for the ecosystem health and supply ecosystem services, inclusive of carbon sequestration. Second, forests, trees and agroforestry resources are crucial to the sustenance of forest dependent-community and the adaptation of other sectors, and to rural to urban communities overall, starting with agricultural systems and farming households, from local to continental scale, given the effects of trees and forests on local climate, the water cycle, and the supply of resources, products and ecosystem services, which are fundamental the community.
The most essential focus within our scope of addressing climatic change challenges determines our core thematic areas of operations.

Agriculture & Forestry

Promote Peace
We work with Faith based organizations to promote education to communities in working in unity and togetherness.
Good Health
We work with other stakeholders in preventive health care programs in creating health educations and referrals to the health centers.
Sustainable Environment
We offer trainings in adaptation and mitigations to communities in engaging locally led climate actions.
