Participation by: 28,000 adults of 18 to 52yr olds – 16,700 females & 11,300 males
Achievement: The targeted communities have adopted to climate change and its mitigation activities.
Basic Learning on Conservation
Period: Continues as from 2023 to date
Area/Location: Homabay County
Sponsored by: Net fund, Gembe Lambwe Retired Teachers’ Association
Participation by: 2,230 people; 1250 youths, 780 women, and 200 men
Achievement: Educated young children at primary level in environmental protection and conservation which will help them in future as they become responsible for their families
Community Capacity Building
Period: 2022 June to April, 2024
Area/Location: Kakamega County
Sponsored by: Care Kenya International
Participation by: 1800 women, 2700 elderly persons and 50 PLWDA
Achievement: We provided pathways out of hunger and poverty for smallholder farmers through Sustainably intensified farming systems (smart farming methods) that sufficiently improved food, nutrition and income security, particularly for women and children as well as conserve or enhance the natural resource base in adapting to climate change.
WESDEP engaged in Kenya climate change council under the Care Kenya International.
